Ingredients

  • 1 cup powdered oolong tea

  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

  • 1 tablespoon ground cardamom

  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger

  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper

  • 1 cup powdered sweetener (THM Gentle Sweet works good) (adjust to taste, you can use a sugar substitute if desired)

Directions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Gather all the powdered ingredients – powdered oolong tea, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and white pepper.

  2. Mixing: In a large bowl, combine all the powdered ingredients. Use a whisk or a spoon to ensure an even distribution of the spices.

  3. Add Sweetener: Mix in the sweetener. Adjust the amount based on your preferred level of sweetness. You can start with 1/2 cup and add more if needed.

  4. Store: Transfer the chai tea mix to an airtight container to preserve the freshness of the spices. Store in a cool, dark place.

  5. Make Chai Tea: To make a cup of chai, heat a cup of milk (dairy or non-dairy) in a saucepan. Add 1 tablespoon of the chai tea mix to the milk. Stir well and bring to a simmer.

Strain and Serve: Once the chai is heated through and infused with the spices, strain the tea into your cup to remove any leftover tea particles. Enjoy your homemade chai!

Optional: Feel free to experiment with the spice ratios to suit your taste. Some people prefer a stronger cardamom flavor, while others may like more cinnamon. Adjustments can be made in subsequent batches until you find your perfect blend.
